Writing Grant Applications

*Limited spaces!*

*Delegates: Bring your own draft bids!*

Overview

This full-day course is designed for both experienced and new writers of grant applications who want to practice their techniques under the guidance of a professional and experienced fundraiser/trainer and learn new skills.

The workshop addresses key points in fundraising and is a practical session whereby participants can work on a real application they are developing to key funders which might include Awards for All (small grants), National Lottery Community Fund or bids to the major Trusts; alternatively, a simulated application is provided to address questions/responses people find tricky to answer !

We’ll Cover

  • Funder drivers i.e. identifying funder priorities and how best to meet them
  • Constructing an effective application/framing a bid: analysis and development of the key sections and headers which make for effective grant applications
  • Target setting – understanding and setting outcomes, outputs and planning ahead
  • Accurate and innovative budgeting techniques
  • General writing tips

Benefits to You

By the end of the day, you will be familiar with the key principles in writing grant applications and be able to think creatively about how you frame your bids.

You will know how to write concise and unambiguous answers to questions in application forms and you will also explore techniques which improve your writing skills in order to compete successfully in the funding market.
